With a name like Theodosia Rowe, my favorite meme is “My name is mispronounced so often, I’m not sure I’m pronouncing it correctly.” Some days I pronounce it ‘Theo-doh-shah’. Other days it’s ‘Theo-doh-see-uh’. The last name is always ‘Row’. Yes, as in “row, row, row your boat” (cringeworthy flashback to elementary school).
Other than my identity crisis, I like to think I’m a fairly normal person. I grew up wanting to be a writer and spent years creating stories to put myself to sleep at night. I didn’t actually write any of them down until I had a story that wouldn’t leave me alone and insisted on being told. After spending far too many years in a corporate job that drained me of my personality, I now have the best job–creating stories while listening to music really loud (sorry, neighbors!).
Speaking of music, it’s the other thing I love as much as writing. Fortunately for my neighbors, I limit it to music appreciation, and appreciate it I certainly do. I’m very eclectic in my musical taste–everything from old-school 70s R&B to current alternative. I’m inspired by music, so it will probably always show up in my stories in one way or another. My handle is ‘a sappy writer’ (asappywriter) on social media because all love stories need a touch of sap, but I always try to include some realism in my stories. My characters might fall in lust within a second, but they will never be in love until they get to know each other. I firmly believe the quote from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, “The course of true love never did run smooth.” Problems may try to destroy my couples, but I am a romantic at heart, so everything will be fine (maybe!).
A sappy writer of romance because love rules! Not above killing a character on occasion.
